Andreas Brandal

Andreas Brandal is from Bergen, Norway. He has been making music with various bands and projects since the late 80's. In 1994 he released his first recording as a solo artist. This was a 2'5 minute cassette-single titled "Tape 1", followed in 1995 by 2 more cassettes.

In 1996 he released his first vinyl single "Better Than Casters" on his own label. In this period he also participated on various compilations and music for art and web projects.

In 1997 the Smalltown Supersound label released a split vinyl single with Andreas Brandal and Bruce Russell (The Dead C / A Handful Of Dust).

In 1998 Andreas and fellow musician Jarle Nordvik formed the guitar-noise improv duo Larmoyant. This project released one LP and and played several concerts. In the period that followed Andreas worked mainly with his more "mainstream" band projects like Nullpluss and The Western Gloom.

Andreas Brandal is also known as an active live solo performer, as well as he also has various live collaborations and recordings with different artists, such as Masami Akita à.ê.à.Merzbow, Bruce Russell, Jon Hegre (Jazzkammer), Kjetil D. Brandsdal (Noxagt), Maja Ratkje (Spunk, Fe Mail), Zbigniew Karkowski and others.

"Drive Home With A Hammer" is the first full-length album of Andreas Brandal on CD. It was released in November 2005 by oldest Ukrainian indie label Quasi Pop and represents the powerfull and impressive audio work of Andreas, created with a both vintage analogue equipment and modern computer tools.
