Astro is Hiroshi Hasegawa’s solo project.

Born in 1963, Hasegawa has begun improvisations with his voice and drums. In 1990 he founded one of the most important and well-known “Japanoise” group C. C. C. C. which concept was impovisative massive noise with very loud sound. The group became legend with the members Mayuko Hino, Ryuichi Nagakubo, Fumio Kosakai. Also, in 1993 (and as well as playing in C. C. C. C.) Hiroshi Hasegawa has begun his solo unit ASTRO which was oriented on analog synthesizers sound.

Now he is actively playing live and releasing quite a lot solo works as well as collaboration with other artists, such as Yamazki Maso, Kawabata Makoto, Keiji Haino, Seiichi Yamamoto, Masaya Nakahara, Reiko A, KK Null and many others. The total amount of Astro’s released works is more than 50 titles overall. His personal playing style is like drifting between the meditation and awakening state created with electronics and he is still pursuing it.
